Sigrid Mitter
Physiotherapist
Teacher at the School for Visceral Therapy
Sigrid Mitter was born in 1970 in Austria. She has been married since 1994 and has two daughters.
Education
Sigrid Mitter is married, the mother of two adult daughters, and lives in Upper Austria. She completed her training as a physiotherapist with distinction at the Steyr Regional Hospital in Upper Austria in 1992, where she was also employed between 1992 and 2021.
From the beginning, the focus of therapeutic work was on acute neurology and the training and internship supervision of students.
During the first few years, she initiated the establishment of an outpatient clinic for neurological patients at the Institute for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Steyr Regional Hospital, which quickly grew.
Sigrid Mitter is a trained Bobath therapist and has been involved with various other therapy concepts since the beginning of her career. In January 2000, in addition to her work at the Steyr Regional Hospital, she founded a physiotherapy practice in Bad Hall, Upper Austria.
During this time, she also completed training in CranioSacral Therapy (Upledger) and Visceral Manipulation (Barral). Her exposure to these therapies proved to be a tremendous enrichment to her daily work and led to many years as a teaching assistant in Visceral Manipulation courses. At the same time, she also continued her training in various areas of osteopathy. To expand her therapeutic knowledge, she obtained certification in Penzel's Acupuncture Massage, Functional Movement Theory, and Sohier's Analytical Biomechanics.
From 2008 to 2012, Sigrid Mitter subsequently served as an instructor for Visceral Manipulation according to Barral at the Upledger/Barral Institute Austria. She has been a member of the teaching team since the founding of the School for Visceral Therapy and Integrative Manual Treatment Methods in 2013, where she has been able to pass on her enthusiasm for the Visceral Therapy treatment concept to countless course participants.
Since leaving the Steyr Clinic, she has worked exclusively in her own practice, specializing in neurology, gynecology, urology and proctology for children and adults.
Philosophy
A major concern of Sigrid Mitter's is to make visceral therapy feasible and accessible for people with neurological disorders. Her many years of experience in neurology and geriatrics have therefore led to the development of a dedicated course in which the concept of visceral therapy is applied to this field. This special type of treatment and touch on various levels is intended to be a valuable enrichment, especially for severely affected children and adults.
